Fabric Glossary
Learn about the fabrics we use across our collections — what they are made of, how they feel, and how to care for them.
Khaddar
A handwoven cotton or wool fabric with a slightly coarse, matte texture. Its open weave makes it highly breathable and ideal for warm climates. It softens noticeably with each wash.
Velvet
A cut-pile fabric with a dense, sheared surface that produces a rich directional sheen. Originally woven from silk, it is now available in cotton, polyester, and viscose. Steam to revive and avoid crushing the pile.
Silk
A natural protein fibre from silkworm cocoons, prized for being lightweight, strong and naturally thermoregulating. Its triangular fibre structure refracts light to produce a distinctive multi-tonal sheen.
Polyester
A synthetic fibre known for its durability, shape retention and resistance to shrinking and stretching. It dries quickly and is often blended with natural fibres to add strength and reduce cost.
Viscose
A semi-synthetic fibre processed from wood cellulose, engineered to replicate the drape and feel of silk. It is breathable, smooth against the skin and best hand-washed as it weakens when wet.
Linen
Derived from flax stalks, linen is one of the most breathable natural fibres available. It has a crisp, textured finish, creases readily and becomes softer and more comfortable with every wash.
Cotton
A soft, natural cellulose fibre that is breathable, moisture-absorbent and gentle on skin. It is the most versatile fabric in garment production, available in a wide range of weights and weaves for all seasons.
Lawn
A fine, tightly woven cotton fabric that is featherlight and semi-sheer with a crisp hand. Its smooth surface holds printed designs with exceptional colour clarity, making it a popular choice for summer and formal wear.
Cambric
A closely woven cotton fabric with a smooth, calendered finish that gives it a subtle lustre. Slightly heavier than lawn, its dense construction holds embroidery and intricate detailing without distortion.
Self Jacquard
A tone-on-tone fabric where the pattern is woven directly into the structure in a single colour, creating surface texture without printing or embroidery. The design is permanent and will never fade or peel.
Blended Organza
A sheer, crisp fabric combining silk or polyester with a secondary fibre for improved wearability. Its stiff plain weave adds structure and volume without weight, making it ideal for layered and formal silhouettes.
Chiffon
A lightweight, sheer fabric woven from tightly twisted silk, polyester or nylon yarns. The twist gives it a faint crepe texture and fluid drape, making it a go-to choice for graceful, flowing silhouettes.
Elegant fabrics, thoughtfully selected for every collection.
